How to improve the energy efficiency of your HVAC system?

Check the vents, change the air filter and keep it clean, clear the drain line, clean the outdoor unit from debris, keep your doors and windows closed, keep curtains and blinds closed, keep your refrigerator closed, insulate your home, avoid using heated objects like dryers and lamps when the air conditioning system is in use.

How efficient are air conditioners?

Air conditioners are much more efficient now than they used to be in the 70s and that’s to be expected with most modern technology. But the way we measure this is through the Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) which you can ask for when purchasing any type of new air conditioning system. We suggest looking for systems with a EER greater than 13 and absolutely no less than 11.

ac energy rebates

Rebate incentives?

Since January 1st until December 31st, 2023, homeowners in Ontario can receive up to $10,600 from the government for upgrading their old furnace or air conditioning unit to a central or ductless heat pump system with high efficiency ratings. More information here:

Do inverter air conditioners really save energy?

Inverter air conditioners can save up to 30% more than non-inverter air conditioners by switching on and off automatically at regular intervals to maintain the goal temperature. Inverter air conditioners just have two options, “on” and “off”.
